Delayed Fashion?

I realise that I didn't keep 100% up to date with London Fashion Week, but between University work, Employment and my Internet provider cutting me off, it has obviously been exceptionally difficult to fill you all in on my opinionated musings and reviews. But I'm going to round up London Fashion Week quickly in keeping with the pace of fashion itself. So the obvious note I'm going to end on is my new lustful crush, Burberry! Oh how I was thrilled, the classic earthy colours with one or two of their infamous macs, but now with the added eutopia that is electric blue, fur and the future winter must have aviator jackets. All in all it was an impressive collection and an exciting new era in Burberry design. But I cannot help but wonder is Burberry running the risk of loosing their identity, lets see how this old age pentioner matures into a new youth.

So what are the looks and must haves for next winter? Three simple components, fur, saucy dresses and aviator jackets, concluding in my thorough excitement for next season!

The Second Coming

So yesterday was the second day of London Fashion Week and variety is what I certainly came across.
Charles Anastase is a new name to myself, but was touched by what is the obscure, almost dream like figures, haunting ghosts of past and future fashion. Intense detail and mixed ideas create what I can only assume was a beautiful fantasy. All in all if anyone is seeking my approval, wheres my stamp, I'll slam it down this second.

Print and luxurious design is what comes to mind when looking through Mary Katrantzou's designs this season. Sumptuous design and detailed prints evoke feelings of opulence and ostentation. Also I was obviously thrilled to see metal work and jewellery adornment incorporated in a couple of the looks, so it pleased the jeweller within myself.

The phrase 'Girl's Just Want to Have Fun!' comes to mind when looking through House of Holland's catwalk show this season. Layering, heavy use of patterns and feminine garments seem to scream college chic with a hint of sexy academic. I must say these playful combination's have set my student pulse racing and the bold pastel colours partnered with classic greys and blacks make the whole line POP!

Finally I just watched the Jasper Conran catwalk show live (Yes, yes Mac again my portal to this unreachable world) and I must say I was pleasently indulged in chiffons that flowed like water, neck detail, which looked like paint had been lovingly poured over the body and illusions of naked flesh. With flashes of oranges and emerald greens it's safe to say he will be bringing in daydreams of summer during those chilling winter days and nights.

Broadening Industry Horizons

Yesterday I received a thrilling e-mail, a response to an e-mail I sent out nearly a month ago requesting a work experience placement at The Bill Skinner Studio. A small jewellery company which designs, makes and supplies, for not only themselves but also companies such as Fatface and London Fashion Week. In this response they have given me such an opportunity and I am so thrilled! August could not come quick enough! I cannot wait! Calm down hands! our time will come!

Have a goosey at their website and be intrigued...

London Fashion Week Commences

"It's the most wonderful time of the year!" No it's not Christmas it's London Fashion Week and I'm all over it like a fashion obsessed rash. Yesterday was day one in this visual extravaganza and here is my conclusion.

Simple chic has never look so sexy, Hakaan has certainly got this tricky equation oh so very right. Leaving some to the imagination but provoking those lusty thoughts, I particularly love the elegant yet intricate structures and the sumptuous textures.

Finally Sass & Bide are now in my top 20 favourite designers, what place specifically I cannot say as commitment is not in my nature. Monochrome is the key word this season and elegant geometry is it's wife and together they produce subtle sophistication with a dash of that most desired of elixirs, youth. Last season their collection blew me away so I was sure to catch their catwalk show live (From the trusty MacBook) and my eyes were very much satisfied by this sumptuous meal of fur, intricate knotting, surface textile and embellishment. All in all a delectable 26 course meal which cannot be missed!
